I'm so happy to introduce our next author for Erotic Romance Weekend! Gabrielle Bissett is an erotic romance author as well as a (get this...) real person! Okay, you're probably wondering what the hell I'm talking about. Well, I mean, she's way cool, easy to talk to and have you seen her blog? It's not all romance and seduction. It's the blog of a real person who just happens to be an author. This is why I love authors so much. Movie stars and recording artists aren't as down to earth as authors.
Speaking of real people and real life, check out what Gabrielle has to say about how her life compares to her writing.
Erotic Romance Writers: Writing vs Real Life
I always wonder if Stephen King’s fans ask him if he writes from real life. Have you read some of his stories? If that’s real life for him, I’m scared for his family. Can you imagine living through some of the scenes in The Shining or Pet Sematary?
This isn’t to say that I don’t wish my real life wasn’t more like my stories, or many other erotic romances, for that matter. Do I wish I would meet a man like V from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series? Hell, yes! More than you can imagine. Unfortunately, in my experience, real life men simply don’t come in that size, shape, or style. It’s too bad, really.
The heroes I write are larger than life in so many ways because erotic romance, like any other type of fiction, is meant to be an escape. For the past few days, I’ve been editing my soon-to-be-released novel, Destiny Redeemed. When I make the hero, Amon, so sensual that the woman he’s with thinks she’s died and gone to Heaven, it’s because I know readers want to escape with an extremely sexy man who’s gorgeous, built like a Greek god, and the greatest lover a woman could ever wish for.
The truth is that many of my stories include my own fantasies, although they’re a bit more embellished than when they began in my mind. Erotic romance authors are like every other woman. A sexy man who has the skills to satisfy all their wants and desires sounds like a pretty wonderful thing after a long day at work. The only difference between authors and other women is that we take what you love to fantasize about and put it on paper. It sounds so much like what you want because we want it too.
I can’t speak for every erotic romance writer, but my guess is that for the majority of us, the erotic stories we write are only in our minds before they end up in bookstores or on your e-readers. Like you, we wish life was more like fiction sometimes. But then again, would any of us be able to handle these incredibly hot men if we had a chance to have them?
I know I’d love to find out, but I’m an adventurous soul who will try anything once.
